interweaving a classic Neapolitan puppet plot (Pulcinella, Teresina and Death) with various jokes inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s now-classic, gory, cynical and violent films. The dialogue between these puppets creates an unexpected synergy that makes violence, as a pervasive element of human existence, explicit. Puppet Tragedy seeks to focus on the performative role of language, which can be identified as one of the key sources of discrimination and hatred, and the affirmation of the ego and the We. All the characters in Puppet Tragedy resort to hate speech, making it an instrument of direct aggression. This is what happens when there is a misrecognition of our intersubjective relationships. However, dialogue conceals within itself the possibility of freedom and a moment in which the I meets the We. There is something indisputable at the basis of all our discussions, and that is our willingness to dialogue. In fact, the moment we speak to others, we implicitly recognise them as speakers.
