2025 Buccal swab (14 samples), DNA sequencing, panel of 10 SNPs (neurobehavioural, cognitive and motor traits), genetic assessment reports Performers: 5 professional dancers + 9 non-dancers (14 in total) First presented at: Rome, autumn 2025
Fourteen biological samples are collected by buccal swab from five professional dancers and nine non-dancers. Each sample undergoes DNA sequencing and is analysed against a panel of ten SNPs linked to neurobehavioural, cognitive and motor traits. The results are compiled into an individual genetic assessment report. Each report is translated into a stage score built from measurable values: genetic variants, percentages, allele combinations. The bodies bring onto the stage gestures, installations and narratives derived from those data. The distance between the biological sample and the movement on stage passes through the laboratory, the report and the choreographic writing. The buccal swab is the point of departure, the stage gesture the point of arrival. The five dancers and the nine non-dancers share the same process of analysis but produce different scores.
Immanent regime. 14 biological samples, DNA sequencing, genetic reports, choreographic scores. The code is already in the body. Here the Golem is irreversible: the first letter cannot be erased. The string runs from the swab to the gesture, by way of the laboratory.
