2023/24 — 4:40 min. (video) Performative action, 3D video (4:40 min.), computer-generated avatars, narrating voice First presented at: to be defined
Twelve performers in an exhibition space of 300 square metres on two levels. Close-fitting clothes, neutral colours, no decoration. The performers enter one at a time, slowly, in silence. They distribute themselves across the two floors. They stop. Every fifteen seconds they scan the surroundings: they move towards light-coloured objects, away from dark ones. Speed depends on tone — white accelerates, black repels. A bass drum governs the actions. One beat: everyone breathes in deeply, as if to begin a speech that never comes. Two beats: they search for something on the ground — a key, a lens — they bend down, check everywhere. Three beats: they crouch, three steps, three seconds still, three times. The lights go on and off. The performers follow them. When the light disappears, they stop. In parallel, a 3D computer-graphics video shows avatars (models: GIO, LUKE, JONAS, CRISTIANO C, MYRIAM, PAVLINA, KORA, GAE, ELISA, LAURA) inside a virtual reproduction of the same space, completely empty. The avatars gesture, move. A narrating voice speaks, out of phase, incomprehensible.
Parallel regime — real bodies in the physical space and avatars in the virtual reproduction of the same space. The voice narrates but is out of phase and incomprehensible. Here the string runs on two parallel circuits that never touch: neither communicates anything.
