MEMORY FOAM

2026 16 memory-foam cushions (50x50 cm, 12 cm high) Performer: to be defined First presented at: to be defined

Sixteen memory-foam cushions are the only objects in the space. The performer lays them on the floor, leans them against the wall, stacks them, moves them, piles them on top of one another. Every contact between the body and the surface of a cushion leaves a visible imprint: hands, feet, elbows, knees, the outline of the torso or the back. The shape-memory foam retains the pressure for a few seconds, then returns to its initial state. The imprints appear and disappear within a short time. The performer builds configurations with the cushions and leans on them, sits on them, lies down on them. When she moves away, the traces of her body remain visible for an interval ranging from a few seconds to a few tens of seconds, depending on the pressure applied and the temperature of the surface. No imprint is preserved. The arrangement of the cushions changes continuously. Each previous configuration is replaced by the next, with no possibility of accumulation.

Entropic regime. The body leaves imprints that vanish within seconds. No trace is preserved. Each configuration replaces the one before. Here the string is the imprint, and the circuit runs towards erasure.
