IMF — INSTABILITY MOVES FORM

2026 Round woven rug (1.5 m diameter), compass on tripod, DSCOVR/ACE satellite, artificial intelligence system, earpiece Performer: to be defined First presented: to be defined

A round woven rug 1.5 metres in diameter is placed at the centre of the space. A performer stands on the rug. Beside it, on a tripod, a compass visible to the audience. Every minute the DSCOVR/ACE satellite, positioned at the Lagrangian point L1 between the Earth and the Sun, measures the interplanetary magnetic field: intensity, vector components and orientation. An artificial intelligence system receives the data and generates a choreographic instruction. The instruction reaches the performer via an earpiece. The performer carries it out while remaining on the surface of the rug, which marks out the area of movement. The instructions change according to the variations in the magnetic field recorded by the satellite. The compass reacts to variations in the local terrestrial magnetic field. The performer does not control the sequence of movements and does not know the next instruction in advance. Each performance depends on the satellite data recorded at that moment. No two performances produce the same sequence.

Acentric regime. The string is the interplanetary magnetic field. It crosses 1.5 million kilometres, becomes an instruction, becomes a gesture on a rug of 1.5 metres. The compass registers the same field from another angle. The circuit never closes in the same way.
