2022-23 — Duration: [to be defined] Accelerometer, gyroscope, skin-conductance sensor, real-time data-processing software, projection Performer: two performers First presented at: [to be defined]
Three types of sensor are applied to the body of the first performer: an accelerometer, which records movements in three-dimensional space; a gyroscope, which measures the angular velocity and orientation of the body; a skin-conductance sensor, which detects variations in the electrodermal response. The collected data are processed in real time by software and translated into visual forms projected onto a screen. The second performer stands in front of the projection and observes graphs, curves and numerical variations corresponding to the movements and physiological states of the first. On the basis of this visual information, the second performer produces movements, interpreting with their own body the data read on the screen. The first performer moves, the sensors translate the movement into data, the data become images, the second performer responds with their own body. The cycle repeats for the whole duration of the performance, without interruption and without predetermined choreography.
Retroactive regime. Here the string is the conversion of the datum: body → sensor → software → image → body. The first body produces acceleration, angular velocity and skin conductance; the second body reads the projection and responds with movement. The circuit translates physiological matter into visual information and back into gesture.
