BLIND TRIGGERS (STOFFE)

2025/26 5 aerial-dance fabrics (hung from ceiling to floor), 5 stand-alone controllers, buzzers (12V), variable thresholds Performer: to be defined First presented at: to be defined

A performer interacts with five aerial-dance fabrics hung from ceiling to floor. Each fabric is connected to a stand-alone controller fitted with a buzzer (12V). The buzzer is triggered when the force exerted on the fabric exceeds a threshold, but this threshold is known neither to the performer nor to the audience. The activation criterion changes during the performance without warning. At some moments the buzzer sounds without the performer touching the fabric. At other moments it never sounds, regardless of the force applied. The performer pulls, wraps, tightens and moves the fabrics without knowing which action will produce a sound and which will not. No confirmation and no error signal is given. The relation between action and sonic response remains opaque throughout. The five fabrics occupy the space vertically. The performance stops without a declared ending.

Entropic regime. The buzzer is triggered when the force exceeds a threshold, but the threshold is unknown and changes. Sometimes it sounds without contact, sometimes it never sounds. Here the string between action and response is opaque. The performer receives neither confirmation nor error signal.
