2024 — Duration: [to be defined] Greenhouse, sensors (soil moisture, air humidity, temperature, light level), 5 kinetic sculptures (mini greenhouses), vibration motors First presented at: [to be defined]
A greenhouse is equipped with sensors that measure four parameters: soil moisture, air humidity, temperature and light level. The collected data are transferred to five kinetic sculptures, built as mini greenhouses, fitted with vibration motors. When the environmental values change, the motors are activated and physically alter the interior space of the sculptures. The five structures react differently to the data they receive. A performer moves inside the main greenhouse. The performer’s movement alters the environmental parameters — the temperature rises, the humidity changes — and the sensors record these variations. The new data return to the sculptures, which modify their vibrations. A continuous cycle is generated between environment, sensors, sculptures and performer. The choreography is not written in advance: it depends on the environmental conditions measured moment by moment. The kinetic sculptures function as physical translators of numerical data. The performer responds not to external directions but to the material conditions of the space.
Retroactive regime. Here the string is the cycle of environmental data. The sensors feed the kinetic sculptures; the performer’s movement alters the environment, which changes the sensor readings, which change the sculptures. The circuit closes between body, space and numerical datum.
