TRESSA

2025 Long hair, hairdressing tools, “Tressa Vanilla Shampoo” (limited edition of 50, with package leaflet) First presented at: artQ13, Rome, 22 February 2025, 7:30 pm

Three long-haired dancers — Virginia Picchi, Natalia Pulido Granada, Laura Esposito — and a hairdresser on stage. The hairdresser intervenes and alters the hairstyles in real time during the performance. The hair is let down, braided, lifted, hidden, up to the point of shaving. The three performers move their heads in precise choreographic sequences: they sway, shake, rotate. The hair follows the movement, amplifies it, makes it visible in the air. The hairdresser works like a stage technician, changing the shape of the heads while the bodies dance. For the occasion “Tressa Vanilla Shampoo” is produced, a shampoo in a limited edition of fifty, packaged with a leaflet included in the box. The leaflet gives directions for use, composition and warnings, following the format of pharmaceutical package inserts. The title of the complete project is TressaCod, choreoCipher hair performance.

Immanent regime — hair functions as biological code; the hairdresser operates as a stage technician who alters the shape of the heads while the bodies dance. Here the string is in the body itself: the code is already in the matter of the hair, and the manipulation rewrites it in real time.
